Photos from Paul

I've received a few photos from Paul which date back to the early 70s, in the details Paul gave about the photos he mentions the UK Club which hasn't featured on the site before, does anyone else remember it or better still have photos ? Thanks Paul for the photos and also your kind words about the site!

First of all I must congratulate you on organising and running this website, it looks as though it has brought back memories to many 'old workers'. I am one, I worked in Lloret from 1973 - 1976 and found out about this website when I visited in 2014, the first time since working there. It has taken me 2 years to put fingers to keyboard and start things off.

I will try and be brief (if that is possible). A group of us arrived early 1973 and I started off working at 'PP's (briefly), I got a job there when it opened for Easter in '73, however after Easter it got very quiet and a few people had to go, including me. I then got a job as DJ at 007 (where I have just found a photo taken in '74 with me included).

1974 found me and friends I was with working at a club that is not mentioned at all on the website 'UK Club' I will write you another email regarding this club as it only operated for 2 years but had quite a history. Late summer '74 found me working at Maxim's as DJ (I may have put in a spell at 007 as well as I am in the photo).

1975 and 1976 I worked as DJ at Maxim's

I moved from the UK to Australia in 1979 where I have remained till now.

Photo 1: 007 Disco September 1973. Names I can remember. Mo and me (front row), Lance, Pauline (Richards partner), Richard (manager), Daniel (in white shirt), he was an American on holiday it was his last day in Spain and pestered me to play Elton Johns 'Daniel', kept buying me drinks so how could I refuse! Then there is Sue on RH Side.

Marilyn's message and details about her photos.....

I worked in the 007 disco in 1974 and like many others have never forgotten that time, it was great.
As you can see the first photo was taken in The White Horse with many other workers, I'm at the front on the right, the other girls were Jean in the front on the left , Liz behind her and I believe Betty squashed behind Fred? The other two girls at the back were Jan and Cathy.
The second picture was taken in the 007, girl in front row is Mo, I am behind her, she worked in the 007 along with her boyfriend Richie he is in the front on the right.

Back in those days I was Marilyn Gormer, I arrived in Lloret round about April along with Jean, Jan and Cathy. Looking through the old photos has certainly made me think about my time in Lloret and would love to come out for a visit,  I did come out in 1991 and the only person I did meet was Richard , he was the manager  of the 007 when I worked there he is in the 007 photo at the back on the left.
Sorry for the length of this but I could go on and on.

"Hi Jackie please find attached photos from Rob Butler. He was in Lloret de Mar circa 68 - 69.. He reluctantly wanted me to do this but i think quite a few people will like to see some of these old photos.  He has loads.  He worked out there for about 2 or 3 seasons working the bars and on the beaches giving out flyers for the night clubs which included Club Istanbul and TOPO'T'TOP and 007. This might bring back some memories for a few people"

We havent had any photos from Mariano for a while as he has been on holiday but now he is back and has sent these pics for us. Mariano lives in the Aragon region where he says "It is like living in hell this August is 43º through the day and 30º at night and nobody can sleep"

I must say we havent had those sort of temperatures in Lloret this August but it must go down as one of the hottest on record!

"Discovered your 'old stuff' site recently. Was in Lloret for four summers from 1970. Worked a couple of seasons, one year partly at PP's and Tempo, another all summer at New Cortijo and was a 'dosser' for the last two seasons.

Was in Palamos and Llafranc last month saw the signs to Lloret but resisted the urge, too many years have passed"

Thanks to Pauline for bringing some of her photos over to Lloret this weekend for me to put on the blog. With the two published here today we travel back to 1971, easily recognised in the top photo are Pauline herself 2nd from the right and then Gerry stood next to her.

Today we go back to black & white photo days with 2 from Colin!

The 1st one was taken in1969...not sure where though, in this picture we have Mary lou, Jimmy Vale, Bob, John and Jack. In the 2nd taken at the 007 disco in 1970 is Colin, Melise, Angelique, and John.

I have another new batch of photos delivered personally by Colin from Coventry who is here for a mini reunion along with his old friends Fred and Ray. Colin used to work at the 007 Disco, Fred worked at El Cortego and PPs, Ray also worked in PPs and the Moby Dick.
All the photos date back to 1969 - 1973, so if any of you were here at that time you may see some familiar faces here on the 'Old Stuff' in the next week or two.
When Colin was showing me the photos yesterday he did point out one person who we should all know, and that is Gerry from 'Gerry's Bar' he said he is in the top photo sat on the left at the front with the white T shirt...Colin behind the bar wasn't too sure about this, can anyone help?
I have to meet up with him possibly tomorrow to get more details.

A special message for Sue.......Sue, I hate to say it but they did say you would know most of those in Colins photos, so you could give us some names when I put the photos on!
