First holiday with 3 other girls in 1965. Lloret was very different in those days, La Cala was a low rise building on the corner then, owned by Edgar. He told us he came to Spain with 100 pesatas and made his fortune. Stayed in The Frigola I think. Met lots of people from Liverpool, all married couples, except one sister Mary. I remember George he was a diver by trade. Funny things you remember!
Through the couples' we met guys from Liverpool and kept in touch, they all came down to Surrey and stayed with us, Mum, Dad and brother. Don't know how my Mum managed with such a house full but she did, even though she worked full time as a nursing sister.
Returned 1966 with 3 girls. Lloret was the same with river down to beach. We met some of the guys from Liverpool as they came back as well and stayed on a campsite just out of town. We stayed in Hotel Mediterranean which was on the main street.
1972 - back again with my next door neighbour Ann, can't remember when where we stayed.
Lloret had changed in 6 years but I was obviously hooked by the place as came back again in
1973 with two girls and stayed in Hotel Alhambra up the road left before the church?
1975 - Took a 3 day package holiday with Jackie Caseley and stayed for a month living in Maria's pension and bought a cheap flight ticket home to Gatwick from a holiday rep in The Highlander, I recall it cost us £16 which included the transfer! Met lots of Glaswegians and kept in touch. I went up to Glasgow and a big car load came down to a party in Horsham and stayed a week!
1976 - Stayed for the Season and worked in La Cala and Yates' Wine Lodge. Did a bit of baby sitting for Geoff Bentham. A lot of the lads from Glasgow came back. Friends came over and stayed for a holiday. My other half Dave (now divorced) worked in Londoner as under manager to Chris Stanley. We went up to Greenock New Year and stayed with Irene McEleny and family.
1977 - Came on holiday. Stayed with Chris, Terry and baby Lisa. Drove down this time. Chris and Terry came back to UK and stayed with us in Windsor where we had a pub, The Copper Horse. Had visits from Martin Glover and pals who were living nearby at the time. Although Chris Stanley got a job here in Bristol he couldn't settle and went back to Lloret.
Unfortunately lost touch when we moved pubs, have tried to find various people on Facebook but no luck.
What a great time we all had, Lloret is calling me again, as Arnold Schwarzenegger once said - I'll be back!

Keith Bradley's Pics
Many thanks to Brad for sorting through his old photos from the early 70s...here are the first few along with a few lines from his email.
"Hi Jackie, my name is Keith Bradley (known to most people as Brad). I worked in Lloret way back in 1973 and although that is nearly 40 years ago Lloret is still very much in my blood. Since I found your website about 6 weeks ago I have been rummaging around for old photos to send. I hope they are of some use and I have quite a few more if you want them"

Photos from Chris Blanksby
Thanks to Chris for sending theses 2 pics from 1975 and also the nice comments about the 'Old Stuff'.....
This is the email from Chris......
Nice blog – great to relive the old days in Lloret.
I have attached a couple of photos from 1975 one is at the Londoner with and one is at a crazy BBQ night.
Front row left to right at the Londoner is Kevin “Fred” Furniss – John Batty – Chris Machin –Ian Shaw ---- Back row left to right – Chris Blanksby (Me) Graeme (Gram) Rawson all from Sheffield.
The holiday in September 1975 was possibly the craziest and best holidays of my life. I have so many memories of this holiday but the most lasting memory is that I never stopped laughing from the minute we got on the plane at East Midlands to the minute we got home again.
One vivid memory is the conga that we created in one of the bars (may have been the Londoner) that ran all the way across the bar and out into the street and into the bar across the street which basically cleared the pub much to the disgust of the bar owners. I think we got chased down the road for that one – nearly killed myself laughing.
Anyway thanks for bringing back the happy days of my youth.

And more rain ......
Still on the subject of rain.....and believe me we are now getting more than our fair share just lately, but after the long hot summer I suppose its badly needed to keep the water levels up. Debbie sent these 3 pics taken outside the Londoner after seeing the one from Malc in the previous post, they were taken in Nov 2001.
Poor Debbie & Christian say they are flooded now up in the urbanisation where they live, lets hope it eases off soon for all those in the same situation.
