Just down the road from La Uva where this was taken, was Pink Maria's. I never stayed there but I'm sure there's a few tales out there from the people who did ?
There she is far left on the first photo, which Lynne from La Uva kindly brought over this week along with a few more which I'll be putting on the blog shortly.
The next one is again is from Jean's collection, taken on Pink Maria's roof, where I believe you could get your hair cut and sleep at a reduced rate if the rooms were full !

hiya maggie. the first two faces i recognised were maria and luis. then i recocgnised rona. been a long time but never forget the kindness shown to me by maria & mama. then if i wanted a bit of male company (apart from work) i'd have a chat with luis in la uva. he struggled a bit with jockanese but he got used to it. do you know how he ended up on a stick...ted law ran him over. honest. it was an accident, don't think ted had his eyes on la uva. really happy memories for me from that part of town. jordi

you know you got me thinking and you're right. he always had a limp. is that why the front step into la uva was at 20 degrees to the horizontal? jordi

Girl half hidden with black hair was Lauren. I used to work with her at the BBQs Photos. Her and I had to dress up as flamenco dancers (!!!) and pour wine down the punter's throats from porrons.
My sister has occasional contact with her- she lives in Italy now.
Jordi, that was always our favourite part of town as well. I worked for Rona in her pizzeria in '83, couldnt wait to get shut and get in La Uva, Gerrys, 1900 and Prince of Wales magic time !.
Debbie i did the porron at the BBQ in '84, 18,000 photos we worked out !. Cleaned the jug out twice that summer and the tourists thought they ate dodgy chicken !!!!! mental times !

maggie, was the pizzeria at the top of the hill and behind it going down the other hill towards beach was the " 4 steps". irish guy called joel used to have the 4 steps ? great lamb chops at 4.00 am. yea right!!!! why are we still alive? jordi.
I dont know about reduced rent, but i ended up sharing this room with a guy called Tony for a few months before i moved in with Scottish Annie and Eddie (phew it was hot up there in the baking sun)
Joel's spare ribs were also brilliant at 4 am in the morning
