Here's a few more photos from Shuggy, and yes, Albie is there again in one or two of the photos.
Albie has just had a few days in Lloret with a few mates from Doncaster and as usual they all had a great time !

4th pic next to Shuggie,is it Jeff Fartuncle and Peter Piper.
John Stanley.
You are correct John, its Jeff & Graham.
I'm trying to remember the name of the guy at the other end next to Stuart (Albies brother) and in front of Limpy
The guy doing the Burto impersonation?? who is that/ I thought it was the spermwhale till i saw the original up top!! ;)
All the usual Dukes Staff in these photos from 78, with Albie sneaking in as usual. Thought I would include Hammy with his Prop team from La Cala
Billy Fraser, remember that day in Girona?
We actually got to play on grass.
Where was Albie that day,,,not good enough to get invited eh???hehe
Shuggie I worked next door in the Laurel and Hardy in 78,what was the name of the Spanish bar next to you were the workers used to go,you had to crawl under the shutter to get in.
John Stanley.
Hi John,
I can't remember, we used to go to Barretinas(?) which was further up the hill.
I think the guy who owned the Spanish bar also owned the Dukes building.
Where's Jill when we need her??
We watched scotland 3-1 v Holland in that wee bodega in 78. also we were all in there at the reunion and someone spilt a lotta red wine on the floor!!
Hola,
I remember crawling under the shutter of a bar called The Steering Wheel in the early 80's think Davy Mc Guigan ? running it then.
Crawled in and out of a lot of bars over the years !!! Maggie x.
Maggie you still do!
Davey McGuigan is here in Lloret now. We met him in Buzzbys on Tuesday night, he's been trying to get on the message board for the last 6 months but he couldnt get into it for some reason or other...managed to sort it out for him. So we'll be hearing from him when he gets back home I should think.
(I think we crawled out sometime after 3am!!!)
Shuggie,1st time me and sniff went to barrentinas is was packed with spanish very loud, arms waving all over the place all talking at the same time,we thought we were in the middle of a bar room brawl and legged it.Felt like a right couple of twits when told they were having a normal conversation.Which barril did you sit next to,we sat at the rosado barril,5pts a half pint.
John.
I am here Shuggie, the bodega we went in at the reunion was on the next street, opposite the Cana Bar (if that is how you spell that god awful drink that made you mental), on the same side as the old Gary Cooper, some of the photos on the reunion blog were taken in there. I presume that is the one you are on about. If not apologies from Thorne!
The bodega where the wine was spilt was the Fishermans, they did'nt want us singing either, in fact he made us leave and go in the seven seas, Barentinas did the best tomato tuna and onion sandwiches ever.
Zodiacs Dico after work,Timmy was DJ,then onto the Fishermans for tuna bocs and Carajillos with Scotty, usually in bed by 9am.1 night they had a fancy dress for the workers, walking along the front Scotty went missing,he fell over the wall onto the beach, quite a drop at that end of the beach, got tummy cramp with laughter.A Scotty was the only person who could walk around Lloret reading a book and not get run over and make 6 cups of tea with 1 t-bag.
Does anyone remember the tapas bar opposite pedros, in 76 we use to go in for the best liver ever, it cost us 10 pts and we got free bread with it, somedays we just lived on it, couldn't afford anything else. Then in 77 we all use to go to Geminis after work (anyone remember the last song)? What about Santa Maria in 76 when Annie and Adolpho had it?
John, Barretinas is still the same with the old Catalans shouting and carrying on over a game of cards in which they could only loose a few cents on...Fiona can keep them under control though!
Oh! I forgot to mention...they now have a computer in the corner, so it has changed!
Geminis did Don't stop thinkin about tomorrow at the end but think that was 77, which workers did Don't go breakin my heart in there 77, had beer crates for shoes.
spanish place opposite El Rics on a secret mission. JOHN STANLEY good idea, a fancy dress on the reunion.
Who ever said Barretinas did the best tomato, tuna and onion salad....YOU ARE RIGHT...
I'm still trying to replicate it to this day but never get it quite right.
I have a photo holding little Rosa Maria, the owners daughter in my arms outside the bar. What age will she be now?? I must send it to you Jackie.
Jill did Geminis finish with "You Will Never Walk Alone??? Although I did more times than I care to remember.
Great to hear from everyone.
78,I'm sure that year Geminis finished with Maggie May and the long count with all the workers singing to 20 something before the final big "Maggie I wished I'd never seen your face"
Luvvly Jubbly-
My head behind geoff the singer. Shuggie you got me the storemans job behind the londoner and picked up your deliverys because i could not drive.
Have to agree about the tuna boc's in Barretina's. They did a great cheese omelette too. Remember spending hours in there waiting for maxim's to open at the start of the season. Also used to talk with Jordi (the son) about all things Barca. He was a nice kid.
You are right Shuggie, it was 'You'll never walk alone', Maggie May they use to play when we had all arrived after work. It was never the same in 78 because tourists had found it by then. Yes it was the Fishermans I was talking about, opposite the Cana bodega and the old Calamic.
Its me writing about the best tuna sandwich ever(can't get nameplate going)Rosa Maria and Jordi were so funny like an old married couple shouting at each other, they must be around 37 and 40ish by now do you think,we used to go through the graffa barrels in there, i was partcial to banana brandy myself as george stewart may remember, took me years to get over that....just the smell was enough. LINDA
I was particularly fond of the cherry brandy myself. The thought of jordi being in his 40's is scarey.
Yes I remember Terry, I hope you can drive now???
Nice to hear from you
All the best
Remember counting to 20 on Maggie May, still do now when I hear it played .............
Stranglers got blasted out too..., and Mally had a great version of Abraham ,Martin, and John.
