Lloret de Mar Old Views

I was recently given a tourist information book which contains some pictures of Lloret from the early days. The top one has 3 dates on the page..1868, 1909 and 1912 so I'm sure sure when its from...did they have photos in 1868?

The other photo looking not all that much different than today is 1965.

By the way the tourist guide book  from which these photos  were taken is aimed at the Russian tourist's, it just shows who who is coming to Lloret these days. We were down on the beach in Fenals on Tuesday and the only languages we heard spoken around us were Russian or Eastern Block ....Not one brit or Spanish voice was heard!

Strange thing about the top pic is it appears to be a view of the town hall, but from the wrong direction?

Unless in those days there was a building at the castle end of the palm tree prom where the Maritime museum is now...I know that building is pretty old, but it faces the sea, not the prom. I have never seen a view like this before and think possibly the picture is manipulated.

Or looking again, it may be is as old a it says and there was a building facing the prom there then - first time I have seen one...too late to look up when photography began :O

Debbie if you look at a photo of the museum as it is now, I think its the same building. There are windows at the side facing up the prom.

Surely the photo was taken from a balcony in the town hall...

Yes, the photo was taken from the town hall but its the building you can see at the other end we were wondering about. I think its still the same one thats there now, which is the museum and travel info place.

Its funny is'nt it,that top picture, we all know that place so well you could be transported back in a time machine and know exactly where you were.
