 These are just a few examples of the photos, propaganda leaflets and cards on show at the exhibition which is on in Lloret just now at the 'Casa Cultura'  I'm not too sure about the date for Taverna de Llevant above, I think this looks much older than 1985 and wouldn't we all know it as 'Gerrys Bar' then?

The Costa Encantada looks very different these days!

This must be a great example of Tony Bateys sense of humour!

Ray Morris

Ray has recently been in contact with me asking about the Captains Arms where he worked for Tony Batey in the early 60s. He sent an email which I've forwarded to Oscar one of Tony's son's, so after more than 40yrs l'm sure they'll be in contact with each other shortly. Tony has a few photos of Ray and the Captains Arms for the site so l'll be posting them on here as soon as l get them.
Is there anyone else out there who remembers Ray? If so he would love to hear from you.

A photo with a bit of a difference today, it features a school trip to Lloret de Mar back in 1972...how they ended up in Captains Arms I dont know!

Tony Batey's Photo Album.

Here we have 3 more photos from Tony today, the first one again from the Captains Arms in 1968. Second from the right is Tony, other people in the photo are Stan, John, Tommy then Don far left. Tony can't remember the girls name, can any of you help him out?

Tony's second photo features Dave Charnley, who was a British Lightweight Champion boxer and his manager, with Tony in the centre of the photo. [Captains Arms, mid 60s] you can read more about Dave Charnley on Wikipedia.
The last photo shows an outside view of the Captains arms in 1970.

Yesterday I met up with Tony Batey, who has kindly spent the last few days looking through his old photos for the Lloret Old Stuff site. The first one from his selection goes back to 1963, the second one is again from the 60s (not sure of the exact year) Both were taken in the Captains Arms.

He has given names for the 1st one as follows Left to right is Maggie, Eric, Ray from Australia then Tony himself.
The only names I have for the 2nd one are again Tony (sat at the front) and Moyra his late wife sat top right.
Can anyone out there add any more names, and where are these people now?

Captains Arms & La Uva

The first photo today comes from John McSwan, the year is 1972 in the Captains Arms.

Next is from Lynne's album, with a photo from her 'La Uva' years..the year maybe mid 80s ?
Louis at the very back behind the bar, I've not seen him for a few months now but Lynne did tell me he is still with us...but just not getting about so well these days!

In the photo with her is David Pooley who she said called into Gerry's Bar this summer to say ''hello''. He now lives in Norway and runs an animal rescue centre. Here is a link for the centre ... Captains Arms

These two should get the comments rolling in !

In the first photo dated 21-8-72 (thanks to John McSwan) John himself is behind the bar in the Captains Arms, and on the left at the front is Tommy...now in the Navy bar in Fenals.

The second photo (is this the Highwayman?) belongs to Rod still a regular visitor to Lloret. He is at the very back of the photo, also in the picture is Alan Hagger (Oh no, not him again !) next to Alan is Sally.
I did have a couple more names wrote down somewhere, but I don't know where...was it Paul on the left ?
