Duke of York Football 1978

Sorry for the delay with this latest set of photos, but I'm now back in Lloret after almost 3 months away. I'm just hoping I've missed the worst of the Costa Brava winter, judging by todays weather I've timed it right, there's hardly been a cloud in the sky all day!

Some great photos here from Shuggie, no need to ask for any names for the top one, he has given them all, also the year 1978 !
The bottom ones are again from the Duke of York 1976.

Three From Shuggie. 1977

I've received loads more photos from Shuggie, the first few of which are published below, with part of the email to correspond with the photos.
[Thanks again Shuggie!]

Duke of York 6
The Dukes team from 1977

The Londoner
The Londoner staff near the end of the season, hence the dress sense. Also the Londoner team, we played this game against a Spanish team, I think in Girona. I'm sure Hammy or Pat Murphy will remember. Highlight of the day was Hammy stealing the refs RED card when he dropped it and didn't know. Not like Hammy at all!!!
Thanks Jackie, the web site is a blast.
All the best
Shuggie
PS,
Jill,
Hope you like the photos and got the last lot.

Photo's from Shuggie...

Shuggie has kindly sent some photos for the blog, here are the first four. I hope I have published the correct photos to match the names he gave me, if not let me know and I'll correct it.

All these photos from 1975.
Apart from the fact that the Duke photos are in black and white you will see that no-one is wearing Tee Shirts. For some reason the Big Bosses (Edgar, Alan & Geoff (goof)) decided on no Tee shirts for that year. We were back to Tee shirts the following year. Geoff is in a couple of the photos. The bottom photo from Duke of York 1. has Shuggie, Chas & Jimmy.
Although I worked for the Londoner group for most of my 4 years in Lloret I did have a spell with Teds (Moby Dick) group working in the White Horse.
The top photo in White Horse 1 has Shuggie Kelly, Des Kelly , Archie Mather, Danny Beattie, Eaddie Stewart, Maggie O'Brien, Maggies sister & Sledgehammer (Sledgie), sorry I think his proper name was Frank.
Lloret, Lloret, a place I'll never forget,
Where ever I roam near or far,
I'll remember Lloret De Mar.
All the best,
Shuggie Kelly.

1979

Thanks to Linda for sending todays photos for the blog...She tells us when and where they are from....

''Jackie,
Sent you 4 photos you may like to add to the Blog. The first is when I worked in the Piccadilly with George Stewart, the second is the Moby Dick before it was a bar, the third is in the Moby Dick in 1979 - Colin on the right was the manager and I am next to him. The fourth is in the Duke of York, let's see who remembers the faces. I'm Linda by the way (better known as Linda from Manchester).
Be good to see them on the Blog.
Thanks Linda.''

''Second was a mock wedding that was held in the Duke of York in 1978, two of the workers got married (mock) and it was such a great day, we all had our invitations someone dessed up as a minister and we had food and music. From left to right in the picture is Val Winters (my sister ) John Newlove ,Bev from Doncaster, Wayne, Pete from Doncaster, he actually wrote a song about working in Lloret, only few words I can remember is " Oh Lloret Oh Lloret this is one place I'll never forget !" There was another chorus "On the beach on the beach that is the place that we always meet ! Maybe some one knows the song. Then there is myself at the end, my maiden name is Joan Winters and I worked in Rosy's restaurant on San Pedro, one of Maurice's restaurants''
