More from Caroline

The photos I published on the 11th March from Caroline were very popular judging by the comments that came in...so here we have the rest of Caroline's photos.
Can we have some more comments about these....where, when and who!
One person I think I recognise is a young Graeme in the football pics?

Graham's Photo's

Thanks to everyone who has recently sent in photos after I asked for some more, please keep them coming no matter what they are or what year. Today we have four photos from Graham Jenkins, I've no other details of where Graham worked but his photos are from the early 70s...it maybe a bit too early for most of you to remember the people in the photos.

The 1st photo above Graham says is El Uva 1973, could that be La Uva or were there two bars with similar names?
These two are from 1971 El Cortijo
The last photo is from PP's Disco 1970

A new story from David

Hi Jackie
Its been a while since last contact and as things seem a bit quiet thought I would tell you about my first winter in Lloret.
For all you living in Lloret there’s no need to tell you it can get COLD during the winter months and as so many places cater for the summer heat it can be a bit miserable at times!!!
Well in the 70s Thomsons used to sent the “golden oldies” to Lloret by the plane load for anything up to 3 months, dead cheap all staying at what was then the San Marti Park hotel now called “Don Juan” also 2 other hotels adjacent now part of “Guitart” but then called “San Marti dos” & Felipe3.
It was hilarious on arrival days because everyone wanted a room with sun well obviously all the people who had arrived the weeks before had grabbed them, so every week on Friday morning it was room change, the queue went out the door!!!! One lot would take a key go inspect the new room and if it was better swap their original key, they were told they had 10 mins to change as others were waiting for their original room, and so it went on people dragging half opened cases up and down stairs trying to find Perfection for the 3 months of bliss??? On their winter break.
The antics they got up to during their stay were something else, they were on half board basis so the waiters at breakfast literally did a search as they left the dining room, confiscating bread rolls, jam, tea bags, butter. Their rooms represented a cafe with wardrobe drawers being used to prepare lunch with all the ill-gotten gains from breakfast or any other place they could get “freebees” from.
I told all your readers before about the time one old boy set the hotel on fire by putting his electric cup tea heater in his bed because it was cold, that was life for my first winter in Lloret.
I’ll tell you next time about when one dear old soul passed away and me conducting the funeral? A sad but hilarious time
Kindest regards

TV company asking for help.

I've been contacted by Josh at Finestripe a Glasgow based TV company asking for help in tracing anyone who was involved with the very first Club 18-30 holidays in the late 60s and early 70s to Lloret de Mar. It seems they have plans to make a programme which will focus on the early days of the 18-30 holidays and the changes this type of holiday brought, so if anyone can help please get in touch and I'll pass on your details or I can give you an email address for Josh.....this is the forth time that a TV company has asked for our help so I'm sure we can help them once again and possibly give Lloret de Mar a bit of good publicity!

Below is copy of the email I received...

Hi Jackie,

I am emailing from Finestripe Productions, a TV company based in Glasgow.

We are currently developing a programme about the very first ever Club 18-30 holiday in 1965 to Lloret de Mar and we are trying to track down anyone that happened to be on those very early holidays. I wonder if you might be able to tell me if there is anyone you know of that might have been on them or alternatively anyone has posted on your site mentioning this sort of time period?

If you have any questions, feel free to ask and our website can be found at www.finestripe.com
