Todays photos go back to the year 1984 - 85 - 89 with Tony's photos. With the first one showing the fairly packed beach in 1984. This summer Lloret beach has been packed with visitors to the town with hardly enough space to lay your beach towel if you arrive too late!For some reason though the people who are here just now dont spend anything and all the local bars are having a really tough time. Where's all the old holidaymakers like yourselves who used to come to Lloret in the old days and spend money in the bars....they dont seem to exist anymore!
Tony's next picture with Derek was taken in 1989, and his last one is from the year 85' in the Highwayman.

I think this credit thing is really effecting the whole of Europe- so many people just haven't got any money to spend, and the Spanish government have really put the icing on the cake by raising taxes so high on the baccy the Brits were buying- what on earth were they thinking? Just the final nail in the coffin as far as Brit tourism goes.
Well, lets hope things get better for everybody soon.

Sad to hear Lloret suffering like this,not to bad here although 7 bars have closed in the past 2 months,they where'nt in the best positions but the people had been here for a few years so again sad to see that happen.A bit of panicking going on in some areas,1e a pint of Mahou,thank god not where we are.
I do hope it gets better for the Lloret boys and girls,still a lot of people there from the old days who have the experiance to get through these bad times I wish them all well.

Its uncanny,I swear from a distance you could easily mistake Derek in his Barcelona top for the Danish 1993 centre forward at the Nou Camp Michael Laudrup...Admittedly that distance is about 17 miles but aaah god love him. Oh yea,while we're on Derek,correct me if i'm wrong,but i'd wager every last dollar that he's a Stoke on Trent boy. gudnite yawl.Its been emotional.

The Days of a Cheap holiday in Lloret are over .. No more cheap ciggies ,, And like the uk most people will probably go to the local supermercado and get carry outs and and probably brought tax free booze on the way in.
27 pubs a day are closing in the uk ..
And I bet the hotels are probably doing packages to keep the clients in ..
But dont worry World cup next year that always makes clients happy .. And if Millwall get promotion I can see a big party at Barone happening .. Alas wont be a party for spurs at Rickys .. So rely on Barca ...
