 Many thanks to Ann for getting in touch and sending lots of photos after coming across the Old Stuff site, she now lives down on the Costa del Sol in Benalmadena. Ann gives a few names and details of the first 2 of her photos below -
           '' Ann here, Just found out about this blog recently and started to dig out these old photos. The names I give you are 95% correct, but there will be some that I don't remember, it was so long ago that my memory fails me!! Anyway I'm sure that somebody will put me right if I've made any mistakes.

Three photos from Irene today, she has given some names for the people in the photos, but one name in particular which Irene mentions is  Jimmy Plumb and she would like to know if anyone knows where he is these days?

1972 Jimmy Plumb is in the first one when he worked for John Mundy in the little bar up the lane behind 007 can't remember the name of it.

Just a bit of information....

Its 3yrs today that Lloret de Mar Old Stuff started and the word is still spreading, so thanks to everyone for all the time you spend getting in touch, adding your comments and searching through your old pictures to send for the site. Its really appreciated, a big thank-you to everyone from me !!

El Duke Pictures

 

Two more pics from El Duke sent in by Ray....has anyone else got a clue of where this bar was? We had another idea from Andy Milroy this morning he seems to think that it could have been on the main street in Fenals (Av de America) and was only open for 1 or 2 seasons ??

El Duke Pictures

 Thanks to Ray for sending these photos from the El Duke bar. Ray has got everyone scratching their heads wondering where this bar was! The nearest we have got so far is a bar which was called the Duke of Wellington as Debbie suggested, this has also been mentioned by other people I've spoke to in Lloret. Looking close at the layout of the bar I dont think it could be, my guess would be one of the bars on the road leading from the fire station down towards the back of the Aquarium Hotel...2 possible bars are what are now called El Paso and the Moncayo or one of the other buildings there. I'll have to go in and have a word with them!

Many thanks to Ann for sending these photos, unfortunatley I dont have any names of the people in them but I believe they date back to when Ann used to come to Lloret with the London Darts team during the early 80s to the 90s. Ann has said she will be sending lots more photos from the darts days!

A Question!

Does anyone remember a bar in Lloret called El Duke? A member called Ray asked this question on the message board. (I dont remember a bar of this name)

"Hi, I was last in Lloret back in 1996 staying at the Samba and there was a bar I went in all the time called El Duke, I think it was on the way to Fenals, I'm going back again in August staying at the Frigola and I was just wondering if this bar is still there or if it's a bar at all anymore?"

Ron's photos - Cerdanya

Some of you may remember Ron, here's part of his email...

I am originally from Warrington and was asked by Ricky Scragg (Then co-owner of the Cerdanya Bar with Robin Sabine) would I be interested in managing a bar in Spain (I was at the time manager of a night club in Warrington called "The Hamlet". Geoff worked on the door with me.). I said that sounds interesting when do I start, that was on a Wednesday, the reply was Sunday, so off I went, that was in 1973.

I managed the "Cerdanya" in 1973, 75 and 1976 returned with my now wife, in 1977.
